Why Pittwater is a Favourite Boating Spot
Pittwater stands out as a top choice for boaters because of its easy access with numerous public wharves and boat ramps. Unlike the busy Sydney Harbour, Pittwater provides a more serene experience. Most of its beaches are only accessible by boat, keeping them unspoilt and uncrowded.
Where Can I Pick People Up by Boat on Pittwater?
Palm Beach Wharf
Palm Beach Wharf, located at the northern tip of Pittwater, offers easy boat access with ample parking and a good launching ramp. It’s close to the stunning Palm Beach, Barrenjoey Headland, and great fishing spots. The wharf also features public amenities, a café, and a small marina, making it a convenient spot for a day on the water.
Church Point Wharf
Another great option is Church Point Commuter Wharf, situated next to Thomas Stephens Reserve. This wharf provides plenty of pay-and-display parking and serves as the main commuter spot for residents of Scotland Island and the Western Foreshores. While boat owners need a permit to tie up here, please note that, as of the time of writing, there are no tie-up permits available. New applicants will be added to the waitlist.
Bayview Boat Ramp
Another great option is Bayview Boat Ramp, located in a scenic 1.09-hectare park. This area features a grassy spot with stunning views over Pittwater Estuary and easy access to the foreshore. It’s ideal for launching boats and offers a lovely setting for picnics while you wait to pick up or drop off friends.
Taylors Point Wharf
Another excellent choice is Taylors Point Wharf, located at the end of Taylors Point Road, off Hudson Parade in Clareville. This recreational wharf features nearby dinghy storage and a boat ramp measuring 2m x 6m, making it a convenient launch point for small boats.
