Where Can I Best See Sydney NYE Fireworks by Boat?

New Year’s Eve in Sydney is truly something special, with its magical fireworks lighting up the sky. But let’s be honest, figuring out the best spots to catch the show can be a bit overwhelming. That’s why we’ve gathered a list of recommended spots for positioning your boat to watch this year’s Sydney NYE fireworks.

The first thing to note is the Exclusion Zone, this comes into effect from 8pm onwards, specifics are below, but find your ideal spot, get anchored securely and then you’re locked in until after the show, so make sure you’re all set up and not planning any pickups after 8pm. See the details on spots below.

EXCLUSION ZONE

  • There are exclusion zones between Balls Head and Bradleys Head, as well as east of Cockatoo Island. These zones have changed from 2022 and are marked by yellow-lit buoys. No unauthorised traffic is allowed inside these zones from 8pm onwards.
  • A minimum wash speed limit of 6 knots applies from 3pm on New Year’s Eve until 2am on New Year’s Day.
  • Safety messages will be broadcast on marine VHF channels 17 and 13. In case of an emergency, dial 000 (triple zero).
